DELRAY BEACH – Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na BAT MONTH!
Yep, October is National Bat Appreciation Month.
Needless to say, creating a video for National Bat Month has been on our radar for a while.
At Applause Break We spent much of October asking South Florida comics for their thoughts on National Bat Month. As fans might expect, they have some entertaining views.
Nico Bolling – who himself may be a bat – Flip Schultz, Donald Trump (as channeled by Josh Rosen), Jay Guy, Robb Kalert, Tim Hanlon, Matt Ross and Jennifer Hellman (accompanied by Nico) offer their thoughts on what has become a surprisingly controversial month. You know, with that whole virus thing and all, some people aren’t big fans of bats. Right, President Trump?
Bats, as most surely remember from grade school science classes, are winged mammals – the only mammals capable of flight. There are more than 1,200 species of bats and most of them are drawn to insects for food. It’s those guys we appreciate this month, not baseball bats. Although, October is World Series time, so those who’d like to swing a bat, feel free to do so.
Those bats that don’t eat insects chomp on fruit. Yes, some do feast on blood, but that only enhances the Halloween season, no?
To celebrate Bat Appreciation Month, the National Day Calendar suggests visiting batcon.org to learn more about the creatures. And celebrate bats on social media by using the hashtag #BatAppreciationMonth.
So enjoy what’s left of Bat Month. Be sure to have a happy Halloween.
