DELRAY BEACH – The celebration that’s a decade in the making concludes on Saturday night – and it is the place to be for South Florida comedy this week.

Ten years ago Casey Peruski and Spaz McGoorty became the producers of the Comedy Corner shows at the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce.

Saturday marks the second of two anniversary shows, this one headlined by Patrick Garrity.

A national touring comic known for his characters, impressions and real-life comedy, Garrity has appeared on NBC and CBS.

Multi-time Cruise Ship Comic of the Year Richie Purpura is the night’s co-headliner. Peruski, fresh off the launch of his Dry Bar special, and McGoorty will also perform, as will David Aguilar and Jim Moran. Peruski and McGoorty also promise several surprises.

The Sunrise Theatre’s Black Box room is intimate, yet spacious. It’s exactly the kind of venue that enhances a night of comedy.

Congratulations to Peruski and McGoorty on reaching this milestone. Celebrating with them will make the drive to Fort Pierce worthwhile.

Tickets for the show are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Showtime is 8 p.m.

APPLAUSE PLANNER – Plan On It

THURSDAY, JANUARY 20
Ahmed Ahmed – The Biergarten, Boca Raton
There are plenty of shows to choose from this week, but Thursday is easily the best night for comedy. Ahmed Ahmed headlines this free show in Boca Raton. Local favorites Nadeem Awad and Matt Ross are also scheduled to perform, with producer David Sadman serving as host. The show is free, and Biergarten shows almost always offer a surprise guest or two. When Ahmed performed there last year, that guest was a belly dancer, so who knows what can happen this time. Showtime is 8 p.m.

Lettuce Laugh – The Farmer’s Table, North Palm Beach
Those who want to catch Patrick Garrity live but can’t make it to Fort Pierce will have a shot earlier in the week when Garrity headlines Jennifer Hellman’s monthly Lettuce Laugh show. The strong line-up also features Dan Long and Brittany Brave. Hellman hosts the show, which benefits her charity, Comics Crushing Cancer. Tickets are $25.

Laughs on Blast – Dania Improv, Dania Beach
Unlike recent weeks, the big local comedy clubs aren’t offering mega-performers. This week’s Applause Planner is highlighting local comics, and this show is the best collection of locals at any of the larger clubs this week. Chris “The Teacher” Priester headlines the show, with Jackie Sanchez and Phil Isme also scheduled to perform. Corey Cognac, and Jay Moreno will also take the mic, with Carlos Hernandez serving as host. Tickets are $10.
