DELRAY BEACH – When Jimmy Shubert arrived in Delray Beach some 18 months ago he wasn’t certain how long he would feel comfortable away from Los Angeles.
A year and a half later, his affinity for his South Florida hometown continues to grow.
“I just love life down here,” Shubert said. “I miss it when I’m gone.”
Fresh off performances in Philadelphia and Dallas, Shubert is back Delray Beach this week, performing Thursday at the Arts Garage in Delray Beach.
Shubert’s a big fan of the venue.
“They really support music, they support theater, they support the arts,” Shubert said. “I’m all about that.”
Shubert’s show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $30.

Shane Gillis – Palm Beach Improv, West Palm Beach
Shane Gillis was named an “Up-Next” Comic at Comedy Central’s 2019 Clusterfest in San Francisco. He was a “New Face” at Just For Laughs in Montreal. Winner of Philly’s Funniest at Helium Comedy Club in 2016, Gillis is a regular guest and co-host on Sirius XM and Comedy Central Radio’s The Bonfire. He;s performing one show on Thursday, and two on both Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $25.

Mark Viera – Dania Improv, Dania Beach
Mark Viera became fascinated with comedy very early on. While Viera’s mom spent countless hours as a social worker to provide for her family, Viera and his older brother would pass the time watching the popular TV shows of the 70’s and 80’s. As his career flourished, Mark personalized his artistic passion and parlayed it into one of his greatest labors of love: A one-hour Showtime special aptly entitled “Tales of Nuyorican”. The show, an homage to his upbringing and hilarious life experiences, became an instant classic. Viera will perform one show per night. Tickets for all three shows this weekend are $22.
