DELRAY BEACH – Can a venue transform a comic?
Al Ernst may be about to find out.
A Southerner down to his accent, softball jersey and jeans, Ernst will head uptown on Thursday to perform at the Rebel Wine Bar in Oakland Park.
The vision Ernst perform in a wine bar is humorous in and of itself. Ernst, a former professional wrestler, certainly has the humor and personality to entertain any crowd. Will he do so while sipping chardonnay?
This is the debut comedy show at Rebel Wine Bar, which makes the night even more enticing. Maybe the rebel within Ernst will find a kinship with the rebel of wines.
Fasil Malik is producing the show, dubbed Tantalizing Thursdays, and will also host. Nik Macik is the feature comic.

Pompano Beach Brewing Comedy Show – Pompano Beach Brewing, Pompano Beach
Prefer wine rather than beer? Head to Pompano on Friday for a show packed with local talent. Shows at Pompano Beach Brewing, produced by Charly Esturilho, have been offering strong line-ups of late, and this one is no different. Chris Shepard, Danny Fallon, Seetha, Roxane McLeod, Josh Rosen and Sean Mullins are scheduled to perform. Esturilho will serve as host. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $10.

Spill The Beans with Julie Scoggins – Undergrounds CoffeeHaus, Ft. Lauderdale
A lineup change produced this intriguing all-female show. National touring comic now headlines this show. Miami favorite Brittany Brave is the feature comic. Angela Nacca is also scheduled to perform, with Stephanie Wood serving as host. It’s a show produced by Fasil Malik, who’s been on quite a run of successes of late. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $15, $20 at the door.
