UPDATED Sept. 23. DELRAY BEACH – Thursday night marks another first for the South Florida comedy community and the Dania Improv.

The Sunshine State’s newest comedy venue, which opened in August, will host its first New Faces Of Comedy contest. As such it will be the first opportunity for most South Florida comics to set foot on a stage where they hope to appear regularly.

The Applause Planner is looking forward to a huge turnout from local comics who will be seeing the inside of the venue for the first time. Spoiler alert: It’s really nice.

As for the comedy itself, fans can expect a mixed bag. Some of the newer comics aren’t yet as polished as they hope to become. But there will also be some strong up-and-comers who could become part of the South Florida Comedy scene for years to come. With this being the first New Faces competition at in Dania, Applause Planner is expecting a higher-quality show than normal.

To perform in the open mic each comic needs to bring at least 10 audience members to get onto the stage. Admission is free. The show begins at 8 p.m.

The Palm Beach Improv will host its New Faces show the night prior. Comics, let’s see what you’ve got.

Applause Planner – Plan on It

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
Nick DiPaolo – Palm Beach Kennel Club, West Palm Beach
Ever go to a dog race and have a comedy show break out? No? Well here’s your chance. Nick DiPaolo is one of the most sought after comics on the national scene. On Thursday he’s performing at the Paddock Restaurant located inside the Palm Beach Kennel Club. At $45-$50, ticket prices are a little steeper than most local shows, but again, DiPaolo’s a beast. And this late-night show doesn’t start until 10 p.m., so you could potentially hit one of the earlier shows, then double dip at the Kennel.

Jacked Up Comedy Show – Palm Beach Improv, West Palm Beach
Jackie Sanchez continues to produce strong monthly shows at the Palm Beach Improv. This show should be no different. Christopher Jean, Pauly McPaulerson, Rudy Wilson, James Patterson and Sanchez will perform, with Charly Esturilho serving as host. The PB Improv, then Copper Blues afterward – it’s a tried and true recipe for a good night.

Boca Bier Bash – The Biergarten, Boca Raton
The twice-monthly show returns to Boca Raton’s Biergarten, this time offering a showcase format. Perry Sak will be the closer on this night. Steve Lamm will almost certainly have his ukulele. Jim Moran, Chris Rey and Seetheraman Radhakrishnan are all scheduled to perform, and don’t be surprised if there’s at least one special guest. It’s a Sadman Comedy Productions show, and David Sadman will host.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 24
Casey Peruski – CCW Headquarters, Pompano Beach
Casey Peruski is everywhere this weekend. He’s starting in a wrestling ring. The first comedy show at Coastal Championship Wrestling proved so successful that they are doing it again. With Jennifer Hellman, Chris Roe, Larry Lane, Sean Mullins and David Aguilar also scheduled to perform, the show features a meaty undercard as well.

Adam Ray – Dania Improv, Dania Beach
Ray is performing five times over three days at the Dania Improv. We’re suggesting catching him on opening night. Ray has appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development, as well as American Vandal. He is a regular on Lights Out with David Spade & The Adam Carolla Show. Friday’s shows are at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. He plays two more shows on Saturday and one on Sunday. Tickets are $22.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25
Gold Coast Comedy Tour – Steamworks Coffee Bar, Port St. Lucie
Nik Macik and Fasil Malik are taking their talents to the PSL and co-headlining this show. Connie Fernandez and Riley Edwards are also scheduled to perform. Grab a brew and enjoy some Saturday night comedy.

Carl Guerra – Sunrise Theater, Fort Pierce
It’s going to be a busy night of comedy in St. Lucie County. A little north of where the Gold Coast Comedy Tour will be performing, Carl Guerra headlines at the Sunrise Theatre. Jim Moran will feature, with Casey Peruski and Spaz McGoorty serving as co-hosts.

Saturday Night Laughs – The Crafted Keg, Stuart
No one will be busier on Saturday than Peruski. He’s co-hosting for Carl Guerra, then heading south to headline in Stuart. This show doesn’t start until 9 p.m. so Peruski should be able to pull it off. While he’s driving to this gig, comedy fans will be entertained by Robert Bass, Corey Cognac, Jessy Denny and host Ryan Scott.
