DELRAY BEACH – Not yet feeling the Christmas spirit? You’re not alone.
And today is the day to feel a little off about Christmas.
December 21, 2021 is National Humbug Day. Turns out, South Florida comics are filled with the humbug. Tim Hanlon, Phil Isme, David Sadman, Chad Ridgely, Nadeem Awad, and even Donald Trump (as channeled by Josh Rosen) are more than happy to share their humbug thoughts with the world. We’ve compiled them in the funny video above.
At some point maybe they will stop saying “Bah Humbug” and find some holiday cheer. But that won’t happen today.
While the comics embraced the “Bah Humbug” approach to this day, relying heavily on the phase often uttered by antagonist Ebenezer Scrooge in the Charles Dickens’ Christmas classic A Christmas Carol, they could have taken their comments in a different direction.

The word “humbug” means deceptive or false behavior. Humbug is also a British word for hard candy, particularly one containing peppermint flavor.
But in America, when most people hear the word “humbug,” thoughts immediately turn to Scrooge, and the stresses – or utter disbelief – that can easily accompany the Christmas season.
How should humbuggers celebrate Humbug Day? Well, maybe this would be a good time to get get all your grouchiness out of the way before warming to the joys of Christmas. Just try not to ruin the season for others while expelling your Christmas demons.
Those who want to share how they are celebrating their inner (or outer) humbug can do so by using the hashtag #HumbugDay.
