WEST PALM BEACH – The Palm Beach Improv hopes to take one giant, long-awaited step toward crowning Florida’s Funniest Comedian this week.

On Wednesday 12 comics will compete in the east coast semifinals of the contest, with three (or so) advancing to to the finals.

Wednesday’s show was originally scheduled to be the contest finale, but Hurricane Nicole prompted the rescheduling of multiple shows, forcing organizers to push back the semifinals and finals. A date for the finals has yet to be announced, but Dec. 7 and Dec. 28 are two dates under consideration.

Nadeem Awad, Ricky Cruz, Kyle Dahl, Luis Diaz, Josh Francis, Troliver Grant, Danny Johnson, Dan Long, Sarah Kenny, John Loveless, Nathan Wallace and Dan Weiss are Wednesday’s contestants, having won contests at either the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce, or the Miami, Dania or Palm Beach Improvs.

Wesley Johnson, Joe Latham, Jay Legend and Dewayne Williams have already advanced to the finals from the west division.

Tickets are listed as being $10. Showtime is 8 p.m.
