WEST PALM BEACH – The Florida’s Funniest Comedian contest hits its midpoint on Thursday with the West Palm first round.

Eighteen of the area’s top up-and-coming comics will take the Palm Beach Improv stage looking to earn one of the three available spots in the contests finale.

“West Palm is strong,” Improv co-owner and contest manager Rene Harte said. “Anyone who goes to see that show is going to see a great show.”

Brian Coronado, Jim Patterson, Jackie Sanchez, Sarah Kenny, Eric Rosenblum, Alex Novello, Stephanie Wood, Terry Wayne, Nadeem Awad, Casey Peruski, Vee Shally, Ira Lee, Giovanni Neal, Kyle Dahl, Nick Giasullo, Call Me Manny, Corey Cognac, Winston Pickles, Mai LG and John Loveless are scheduled to perform on Thursday.

Seetharaman Radhakrishnan (Seetha) had been among the list of competitors until he advanced to the finals following Sunday’s Naples first-round show. That night Mark Christopher and Devin Papayiannis also nabbed spots in the contest final.

They joined Tampa winners John Turkle, Jay Legend and J.J. Curry; and Orlando winners Dewayne Williams, Joe Latham, Wesley Johnson, who already punched their finals ticker.

The final four first-round battles will take place at the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce on Oct. 22, the Dania Improv on Oct. 26, the Miami Improv on Oct. 27 and McCurdy’s in Sarasota on Oct. 28. The Miami show is a rescheduling from late September prompted by the uncertain path of Hurricane Ian.

Thursday’s show offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy some of South Florida’s finest comics. Get in on the ground floor, and say you knew them before they achieved fame.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are only $5.
