BOCA RATON – Minnesota native Jamie Blanchard isn’t second guessing his decision to move to South Florida.

“I made the best move I’ve made in my life, for sure,” Blanchard said.

There are several reasons behind Blanchard’s happiness – starting with the sunny, 80-degree South Florida days this week.

He’s also finding South Florida audiences receptive to his performances.

“I feel at home here,” Blanchard said. “I think the audiences have been fantastic. I think everybody just wants to laugh right now.”

Blanchard headlined Thursday’s Sadman Comedy Productions show at the Biergarten, once again entertaining a amenable audience. The performance comes of the heels of January’s South Florida debut at the Delray Hideaway.

Interest in Blanchard continues to rise. He’s spent the past few months building contacts and learning the lay of the South Florida comedy scene.

“Just trying to build, trying to grow something,” Blanchard said.

SHOW HIGHLIGHT
Blanchard somewhat inadvertently performed an encore. After thanking the audience and saying good night, he remembered he wanted to do one more routine. Blanchard launched into his bit about hitting on a girl and how she’ll subtly work into the conversation that she’s married – altering his voice to provide a better indication of exactly what he hears during those conversations. The bit sent the audience home on a high note. “What I find with [that bit] is you can really explore with it and I can get more animated or less animated,” Blanchard said. “I feel like each time I do it, it’s a little bit different.”

BE OUR GUEST
Davies, a New York-based comic, made a guest appearance, taking the stage for only the second time in several months. Davies entertained – his bit about getting a chill while dating really found its mark – but wasn’t completely pleased with his performance following his long layoff. “Even remembering old jokes that you’ve been telling for years, you take months off, it takes longer than I care to admit to click in,” Davies said. “It will be many shows before I feel good again.” …Working to condense and refine his act, Awad delivered a tight set focusing on his cruise line and White Claw bits. …Wood’s routine comparing wedding invitations to monthly bills had the audience engaged. …Sadman always looks at home when he performs at the Biergarten.

WORKING THE ROOM
Blanchard’s phone rang while he was on stage shortly after a bit that mentioned his mother. When an audience member yelled, “It’s your mom,” Blanchard quickly responded “Calling from the grave?”
