DELRAY BEACH – Alright folks, it’s officially the day to get funky.

October 5, 2021 is National Get Funky Day, and South Florida comics are ready to bring the funk. Well, at least try to bring the funk, anyway.

Comics Tim Hanlon, Nik Macik, Dean Napolitano, Lalo Rodriguez, Jennifer Hellman with Nico, Stephanie Wood and Matt Ross give their thoughts on National Get Funky Day in the humorous video above. Will they take fans to Funky Town? Take a look and judge for yourself.

Noting that “funkiness is infectious” the gang at National Day Calendar encourage celebrants and observers to “turn up the energy, improve the mood, smile, laugh and dance.”

National Get Funky Day came into existence in 2017, and the funk has been spreading ever since.

Get Funky Day has its roots in Florida. Funkytown Fitness, a fitness studio in St. Augustine, proposed National Get Funky Day as a way for people to break free from their comfort zones and feel loose.

Feeling stressed on the job? Today is the day to hit a bar after work, put a few dollars in the jukebox, and loosen up with some funk.

Simply don’t feel like getting funky today? Well there are a few other ways to celebrate Oct. 5.

Today is also National Rhode Island Day, so maybe eat some Rhode Island clam chowder. It’s also National Do Something Nice Day, which is, well, nice. And feel free to celebrate National Apple Betty Day, National Eat Fruit At Work Day and World Teachers’ Day any way you like.

Now if you’ll excuse us, it’s time to turn up the P-Funk – and maybe listen to a bootleg recording of the Funkabilly Playboys.
