DELRAY BEACH – Jimmy Shubert is back in South Florida, eager to show that a home-cooked Thanksgiving dinner isn’t slowing his roll.

The veteran touring comic has four Palm Beach County shows scheduled in three different venues over a five-day span.

“I do like the scene down here because it’s open,” Shubert said.

Shubert begins the weekend with a Friday night show at the Boca Black Box. He’ll head to the Black Box’s sister club in Lake Park (formerly the Kelsey Theater) for two shows the following night. Shubert rounds out the mini-tour with a Tuesday night performance at the Palm Beach Improv.

Between Saturday’s final show and Tuesday’s gig at The Improv, Shubert plans to fly to Houston to record a pay-per-view special that will air on New Year’s Eve.

“It’s a rock-and-roll tour schedule,” Shubert said. “I’m going to have to lock in.”

While many comics nationally are struggling to find work, Shubert’s been a busy man.

He did a similar four-show stint in South Florida two weekends ago, with a gig at a private party and a performance at upscale Boca Raton restaurant Arturo’s sandwiching two shows at the Fort Myers’ Laugh In.

“It feels good just to make people laugh again,” Shubert said following his second Laugh In show. “It was just a lot of fun.”

A Philadelphia native, Shubert returned to the Keystone State for a Thanksgiving with family, performing locally during his stay.

Richie Minervini and Kristi McHugh will open for Shubert’s Black Box dates. Tickets for the Black Box shows are $36.05 for general admission and $46.35 for VIP.

Nadeem Awad and Jay Guy will open for Shubert at the Improv. David Sadman will host the show. The Improv show, a Sadman Comedy Production, is $20.
