DELRAY BEACH – Those who have screened iPossessed understand it’s not exactly the ideal relaxing Sunday morning accompaniment to a fresh cup of coffee.

Yet, there was Carl Rimi on West Palm Beach’s CBS affiliate, (WPEC channel 12) promoting the psychological thriller he wrote, produced and starred in.

Rimi appeared in a nearly four-minute segment on WPEC’s Sunday morning show, providing an update on the film’s progress, which he hopes will appear in theaters later this year. Currently, he said, they are re-editing some of the audio.

The funniest part of the interview came when the anchor mentioned that Rimi provided a movie trailer, but producers elected not to air it because, in their opinions, it wasn’t suitable for Sunday morning.

Still, it’s good to see Rimi continuing to generate buzz locally for the project. Hopefully there’s more to come.

Also in today’s January 10, 2023 Stand-Up Spotlight, learn why Bob Saget’s widow is looking to have the deceased comedian’s Twitter blue check restored, an Atlanta comic who might be trying to steal Nadeem Awad’s look, and a review of an Adam Carolla performance that hearkens back to “The Man Show.” Carolla, incidentally, is scheduled to perform at the Palm Beach Improv on February 16.

Let’s keep it funny, folks.

Bob Saget’s Widow Pleads with Elon Musk to Verify Late Comedian’s Twitter Account

Stand-Up Rundown:After late Full House star Bob Saget had the blue checkmark removed from his formerly-verified Twitter account, widow Kelly Rizzo is asking for Elon Musk to have it restored. One year to the day after Saget’s passing, Rizzo shared a touching tribute post on Instagram, calling herself “the luckiest” for having been married to him in the last years of his life. The same day, she also noticed that Saget’s account on Twitter, which boasts 2.2 million followers, was no longer verified.

A ‘beacon for the funny,’ Atlanta-based comedian Joe Kelley’s new comedy album ‘Ladies and Leftovers’ out now

Stand-Up Rundown:On the “City Lights” series “Speaking of Comedy,” Atlanta’s funniest locals share insights on the perks and perils of their profession. This edition spotlights Atlanta comedian Joe Kelley. A very early entrant to the field of stand-up, Kelley got the bug around age 13. “My parents, actually, had just gotten a divorce. I was at my dad’s new house. No friends, nothing to do, couldn’t drive, and Comedy Central used to play Friday night stand-up… like a three-hour block of stand-up comedy,” recounted Kelley. “Laughing just kind of served as a distraction from everything that was going on in my life, and I always thought it was something I could do, and I always wanted to do it.”

The stand-up comedy of Adam Carolla: It’s still The Man Show

Stand-Up Rundown:With his Adam Carolla Show podcast usually maintaining a position of being social-politically, sports and media obsessed – and occasionally hurtful to citizens of the Philippines, gay activists and transgender people in the past (“I’m a comedian, not a politician” said Carolla to criticisms of bigotry) – I assumed the same would be true of Carolla’s stand-up and live shows in 2023.

With that, I hit up Helium Comedy Philadelphia (before Carolla’s dates with singer John Popper in Dallas, Palm Beach and Baltimore) for his duel The Adam Carolla Show Live and Adam Carolla Is Unprepared showcase.
