DELRAY BEACH – The first full comedy week of October starts slowly, but man does it get rolling as the weekend approaches.

When the weekend arrives, it’s time to jump on the Cam tram.

Cam Bertrand, the reigning Florida’s Funniest comic and recent America’s Got Talent competitor, makes the quick drive across the Sunshine State to perform twice in two days.

On Friday he headlines at Martin Downs, with Dan Weeks featuring. Casey Peruski and Spaz McGoorty are also scheduled to perform. Tickets for that 8 p.m. show range from $20-$35.

The following night that same quartet heads a little further north to perform at the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce. Tickets for that show range from $20-$30.

The Applause Planner picks the Friday show as its performance of the week, but comedy fans really can’t go wrong with either show. Martin Downs only recently started hosting comedy again, so it may well be the first time most South Florida comedy fans will experience a show at that venue.

On the other hand, the Sunrise Theatre is a wonderful place to catch a comedy show. Pick one and have some fun.

APPLAUSE PLANNER – Plan On It

Carl Rimi – The Farmer’s Table, North Palm Beach
Jennifer Hellman’s Lettuce Laugh shows took the summer off, but it returns on Thursday with a line-up featuring a couple of South Florida’s finest comics. Fresh off shooting the final on-location scene of his iPossessed movie, Carl Rimi headlines jumps back into the stand-up comedy world to headline. Local favorite Nadeem Awad will feature for Rimi, with Jennifer Hellman hosting the show. Tickets are $25, with the proceeds benefiting Comics Crushing Cancer.

Dope City Comedy Tour – Dania Improv, Dania Beach
It hasn’t taken long for Tim Hanlon and Matt Bellak to become the Darlings of Dania. The duo will be making their third appearance at the recently opened Dania Improv – easily the most non-weekend performances on that magnificent stage. See what the buzz is about. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $20.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 8
Comedy On Tap – Coastal Karma Brewing, Lake Park
Jackie Sanchez headlines her second show of the week, this one in central Palm Beach County. Anthony Terzo, Zach Bugarin and Fasil Malik are also scheduled to perform, with Lalo Rodriguez hosting. The free show begins at 8 p.m. Catching this show on Friday, then heading to see Cam Bertrand in Fort. Pierce on Saturday wouldn’t be a bad plan.
