DELRAY BEACH – On Wednesday, the Turtle will Fly Like An Eagle.

That’s right, Steve Miller is coming to Delray Beach’s Turtle Tavern.

OK, so it’s not the rock star from the 70s and 80s. It’s comic Steve Miller who’s making his way to Delray.

Comic Steve Miller is one of Florida’s hottest comedians. This week Miller brings his unique storytelling style across the state to perform shows on consecutive days in South Florida.

The first of those shows occurs Wednesday at the Turtle Tavern. Those familiar with the Turtle may think it an odd spot for a comedy show. It’s not flashy. It’s not artsy. It’s more of a local bar located on a Military Trail strip mall.

But past comedy shows there have proved highly successful. The audience is engaged, attentive, and ready to laugh, as Johnny Azari learned when he recently recorded a comedy special there.

Perhaps it’s the nominal $10 cover charge that helps ensure only fans of comedy are within the bar’s walls come showtime. Or maybe it’s that the Turtle’s clientele is a jovial bunch that appreciates a good joke when they hear it.

Either way, once a month or so, the Turtle becomes a sneaky good room for comedy.

Local favorite Nadeem Awad is co-featuring on this show, joining Vital Dieujuste. For those unfamiliar with Diejuste, who doesn’t perform in South Florida as much as he could, he’s one of the funniest South Florida has to offer.

It’s a Sadman Comedy Productions show, so David Sadman is hosting the night. This show has a tendency to sell out, so purchasing tickets in advance might be the smart move.

Applause Planner – Plan On It

THURSDAY, NOV. 4
Steve Miller – Biergarten, Boca Raton
Those who miss Miller on Wednesday have a second chance to see him. Thursday’s show at the Biergarten also includes Awad and Sadman, but adds Ryan Scott in place of Dieujuste. There is no cover for this show but a two-drink minimum does apply. The twice-monthly Biergarten shows have become a staple of the South Florida comedy scene.

FRIDAY, NOV. 5- SATURDAY, NOV. 7
Flip Orley – Palm Beach Improv, West Palm Beach
Fans of hypnotism, this is the show for you. Comic/hypnotist Flip Orley is coming to the PB Improv for five shows over three days. What sets Orley apart from other hypnotists is his comedic ability to deliver a high-level stand up set before unleashing his volunteer’s subconscious. Tickets for the show are $22.

Michael Blackson – Dania Improv, Dania Beach
“The African King of Comedy” has been entertaining audiences across the country and around the world for more than a decade. Joe Devito, Delray Beach Playhouse, Delray Beach
Comedy shows have returned to the Delray Beach Playhouse – an intimate yet luxurious theater on the banks of Lake Ida. Joe DeVito has appeared on The Late Late Show, Last Comic Standing, and Comedy Central, and is a frequent guest on the top-rated Gutfeld! show. His comedy albums are in regular rotation on SiriusXM comedy channels and his special for Dry Bar Comedy has over 5 million views online. Tickets are $25-$35.
