DELRAY BEACH – Not all of the news is good for South Florida fans of comic Tom Segura.

It’s wonderful that he’s elected to perform nine shows at the Palm Beach Improv this week.

However, fans who don’t already have tickets are unlikely to be able to see him.

All nine of those shows, which run two per night Tuesday through Friday, with a lone late show on Saturday, are already sold out.

As that string of sellouts confirms, Segura is quickly becoming one of stand-up comedy’s biggest stars.

Segura became a household name following his role opposite Mark Wahlberg in the film Instant Family. Since then he’s appeared frequently on the late night shows.

But his guest spots on Joe Rogan’s podcast, the Joe Rogan Experience, vaulted Segura to the top of the comedy chain.

Hopefully fans of Segura already have their tickets for this week. At the moment there aren’t any plans to add additional shows – Karlous Miller headlines Saturday’s early show and two Sunday shows – but if the Improv finds some space, Applause Break will make sure fans know about it.

For those fortunate enough to have a ticket, whichever show you attend is our pick of the week.

Applause Planner – Plan on It

Freddy Stebbins – Thursday, Deb. 18, Il Tuscano Ristorante
Stebbins brings his cast of Miami-based characters to Pembroke Pines for this show. Delray Beach favorites Anthony Terzo and David Sadman are heading south to join Stebbins. Hiram Rios is hosting. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m.

Comedy Night – Thursday, Feb. 18, Blue Jean Blues
These shows, produced by Gold Coast Comedy, have become a reliable showcase of local comedic talent. Nik Macik is once again hosting, with Chris Roe, Bobby Mac, Ryan Scott, Sean Mullins, Kevin Benoit, Nico Bolling, Oriel Rodriguez, Jamie Blanchard, Julie Baez and Matt Carter all scheduled to perform. That’s a pretty big collection of top local comics. Doors open at 7 p.m., with comics taking the stage at 8 p.m.

Packy’s Comedy Showcase – Sunday, Feb. 21, Packy’s Sports Grill
Chris Priester headlines this month’s show at Packy’s. Stephanie Wood and Mike Cintron are co-featuring. Matt Ross, Danny Fallon and Jesse Cohen are also expected to perform, with Danny Fineman hosting. It’s a good way to end the weekend.
