WEST PALM BEACH – Do comedians get funnier as they age?

For Richard Glover, the answer is a definite “No!”

In a recent column he somewhat cheekily declares that humans are at their funniest when they are toddlers.

Does, the Rundown think that’s true? Of course not. But the age at which people are their funniest is an interesting question. As humans age and gain experience their sense of humor evolves. And what a stand-up comedian may find funny at the age of 20 could be boring by the time they reach 40.

The varied South Florida comedy scene boasts comedians in their teens all the way to 70-something year old Jim Patterson. It’s hard to believe that Patterson, who only took up stand-up comedy following his retirement, isn’t funnier now than he was a couple decades ago.

Today’s Stand-Up Spotlight attempts to answer the question: Did Kevin Hart really by a live eagle? There’s also a story about comedians, mostly not well-known ones, taking shots at Fox News’ Tucker Carlson over his comedy documentary and a story about the funniest woman in Ireland.

Let’s keep it funny out there.

STAND-UP SPOTLIGHT – Feb. 16, 2023

STAND-UP RUNDOWN:At what age do human beings have the best sense of humor? Each decade has its own qualities, its own opportunities for mirth.

When you’re a teenager your parents are quite amusing, with their insistence you attend school and come home at night. Then, in your 20s, there’s the world of work and romance, both so full of absurdities that you can’t help but express an amused chuckle.

Comedians Rail Against Tucker Carlson for Using Them in Comedy Doc: ‘Fuck a Green M&M’

STAND-UP RUNDOWN:Fox News has comedy on the brain this week. Roseanne Barr’s stand-up special, Cancel This, premiered Monday on Fox Nation, and on Wednesday, Tucker Carlson will premiere his sure-to-be extremely measured special, The Death of Comedy? Carlson’s project seems to focus, as one might guess, on how censorship and cancel culture are killing comedy. It’s unclear from the program’s trailer, however, who exactly Carlson interviewed for this special. And now, at least two comedians whose footage appeared in the trailer appear to have called Carlson out on Twitter for using their likeness without permission.
