DELRAY BEACH – The past couple months haven’t been great for Jay Leno.

In December a fire that started while working on one of his prized automobiles scorched his face. Things got worse for Leno last week. In the span of a couple of days he learned that NBC was canceling his show, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” and he wrecked his motorcycle, breaking several bones in the process.

Leno is reportedly doing well physically, but the cancellation of his television show ends a 30-year run with NBC. For the younger audience, Leno was one of the premier stand-up comedians before taking over for Johnny Carson as host of “The Tonight Show.”

The good news is that Leno is touring again. He’ll come to Florida in March, but the closest he’ll get to South Florida is Sarasota. For those in the area, it’s worth the trip.

Want to get to know Leno better? There’s a Q&A with him in today’s Stand-up Rundown. There’s also news of Alan Carr making progress on his new project.

Let’s keep it funny this week.

Playhouse Square-bound Jay Leno talks about his career

STAND-UP RUNDOWN:Even though 72-year-old Jay Leno has been to the top of the comedy world, the legendary funnyman always has given the impression all he ever needed to be happy in life was a microphone and a stage.

That’s exactly where the former “Tonight Show” host currently finds himself — thanks to a busy touring schedule that includes a Northeast Ohio return on Feb. 2 at Playhouse Square’s KeyBank State Theatre in Cleveland.

Alan Carr starts filming on Changing Ends

STAND-UP RUNDOWN:Filming has begun on Changing Ends, the autobiographical comedy about Alan Carr’s early life. The show – which the comic scripted with Two Doors Down writer Simon Carlyle, is about him growing up in 1980s Northampton as the son of the manager of the town’s fourth division football club.

Carr will play himself in the present day, with Oliver Savell, who recently appeared in Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast, as his younger self.
