DELRAY BEACH – As amazing as artificial intelligence is at some tasks, AI is still far from perfect.

For proof of both, look no further than the AI-generated series “Nothing, Forever” – an internet series mimicking the 1990s sitcom “Seinfeld.”

“Nothing, Forever” stars a computer generated stand-up comedian Larry Feinberg and his friends, simulating Seinfeld as closely as possible. AI generated a new episode daily, and while it wasn’t nearly as good as the original series the product was remarkable in that it created a script, voices and animations.

As the title suggested, creators wanted “Nothing, Forever” to run infinitely. But after Feinberg made a joke deemed transphobic and homophobic, Twitch, the platform where the series appeared, slapped the show with a 14-day ban.

In one of his stand-up comedy performances, AI generated the following stand-up bit for Feinberg:

“There’s like 50 people here and no one is laughing. Anyone have any suggestions? I’m thinking about doing a bit about how being transgender is actually a mental illness. Or how all liberals are secretly gay and want to impose their will on everyone. Or something about how transgender people are ruining the fabric of society. But no one is laughing, so I’m going to stop. Thanks for coming out tonight. See you next time. Where’d everybody go?”

Creators apologized for the bit, but it should be noted that there are rants much worse all over the internet. The hope is that the show will resume following its two-week hiatus.

Joining “Nothing, Forever” in today’s Stand-Up Spotlight is a story about how Joe White dealt with a heckler who hurled a racial insult at him, an article about how stand-up comedy is taking of in the Czech Republic, and a tale about how actress Tabyana Ali got her start in stand-up comedy.

Alright folks, get out there and be funny.

AI-Generated ‘Seinfeld’ Show Banned on Twitch After Transphobic Standup Bit

STAND-UP RUNDOWN:“Nothing, Forever,” the infinitely-generating AI version of Seinfeld that tens of thousands of people were watching has been banned for 14 days from Twitch after Larry Feinberg—a clone of Jerry Seinfeld—made transphobic statements during a standup bit late Sunday night.

“Hey everybody. Here’s the latest: we received a 14-day suspension due to what Larry Feinberg said tonight during a club bit,” Xander, one of the creators of Nothing Forever, said on Discord. “We’ve appealed the ban, and we’ll let you know as we know more on what Twitch decides. Regardless of the outcome of the appeal, we’ll be back and will spend the time working to ensure to the best of our abilities that nothing like that happens again.”

This comedian was called the N-word during his show. Here’s why he didn’t want the culprit ejected

STAND-UP RUNDOWN:Comedian Joe White had been performing his stand-up comedy show to sold-out crowds for almost two weeks at Fringe World Festival in Perth when an audience member “completely sucked the energy out of the room”.

A person who’d been heckling throughout part of White’s show on Friday night referred to the comedian using the N-word.

White, born Tilahun Hailu, is an Ethiopian refugee who came to Australia from Sudan as a child, and didn’t ask for security to escort the man from the venue.

These are the comedy superstars heading to Prague in 2023

STAND-UP RUNDOWN:Comedy has become one of the most rapidly growing forms of live entertainment in Czechia, and this year proves it with a stellar lineup of international comics making Prague a stop on their tours.

A run of English-friendly stand-up shows by some of the genre’s biggest acts kicks off this week with a comedy showcase at Lucerna Music Bar and goes out with a bang at Forum Karlin later this year. In between, an American comedy-rock duo will temper the British humor.

Tabyana Ali’s Manager Got Her Into Stand-Up Comedy Because She Reminded Her of Whoopi Goldberg

STAND-UP RUNDOWN:Ali performed stand-up comedy before her days on General Hospital. She loves comedy in general, especially making people laugh. She believes it is her “strong suit,” as she explained during her interview with Benard.

Ali’s manager told her, “You remind me of Whoopi Goldberg … I think you should do stand-up”. So she did. Sixty people turned up for her first show. She enjoyed it so much and continued for a while. Ali did shows for a time but “retired” from stand-up when she was just 17 years old.
