Of all the ways comedians become famous, Mason Corkery’s is unique,

Gucci the cow was scheduled to hit the slaughterhouse before Corkery adopted her.

Corkery treats Gucci like she’s a dog, taking her everywhere around his small Iowa town. Videos of Gucci about town went viral, turning both Corkery and the cow into celebrities. Now the duo makes appearances all over Iowa.

Hopefully Corkery and Gucci will develop a stand-up act, performing on what would have to be a pretty big stage.

Today’s Stand-Up spotlight also includes a release date for the second season of Vice’s “Dark Side Of Comedy.” Comedians featured will include Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, Joan Rivers and Sam Kinison. There is news of a couple upcoming festivals, with the Comics Come Home show in Boston looking particularly worthwhile. And Barstool Sports named Kevin Clancy its GM of Comedy.

Maybe Clancy can book Corkery and Gucci.

Now that would bring the funny.

Northeast Iowa’s Gucci the Cow gains TikTok fame with antics

STAND-UP RUNDOWN:JESUP — When Greg Corkery saw his son loading a 400-pound animal into the back seat of a truck two years ago, he almost had a cow.

“I looked over and that kid was pushing that critter in the back seat of his pickup,” he said. “I thought ‘what in the Sam Hill.’ ”

But the only cow nearby at that time was getting situated for a trip to the local Dairy Queen for a “pup cup” to share with his handler, Mason Corkery. Before long, a video of the encounter uploaded to TikTok went viral, turning the cow previously earmarked for the slaughterhouse into a social media star and local celebrity.

Kevin Clancy Tapped For Comedy Leadership Role At Barstool Sports

Following the huge news last week that Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy had bought back his controlling stake in the company from Penn Entertainment, Barstool Sports is already making changes on the exec front. Barstool Sports has upped Barstool Sports New York founder Kevin Clancy, aka KFC, to GM of Comedy at the company.

With Portnoy only recently gaining back a controlling stake in the company, Clancy’s responsibilities (and even his title which was given to him prior to the sale) could be changing over time but going forward he will be focused on expanding the company’s footprint in the comedy world, specifically in the stand up comic scene, in a much more hands on way. As part of this new position, he will also be helping several other podcasts, brands, and shows achieve the same level of success he and the other Barstool OGs have been lucky enough to see.

Tributes and laughs at 2nd Israeli Comedy Festival

Ephraim Kishon would surely have had a field day. The master of satire would, one assumes, have gone to town on the current political shenanigans, particularly with the ongoing mass protests over the precarious state of Israeli democracy.

That, presumably, will feature front and center in quite a few of the stand-up comedy slots in this year’s sophomore edition of the Israeli Comedy Festival, named after Mr. Kishon, who died in 2005 at the age of 80.

Comics Come Home talent at full strength for TD Garden show

Back in the early ‘90s, when Denis Leary was watching Cam Neely, Cam Neely was watching Denis Leary.

During his storied professional career with the Bruins, Neely spent a lot of off nights in Boston’s comedy clubs.

“I really enjoyed watching live standup,” Neely told the Boston Herald. “I preferred to do that over going to a movie so I’d go with a couple teammates to comedy clubs.”
