A few recent Applause Break articles examined the negative side of podcasting.

Bill Maher and Kevin Hart want to emphasize the positives – the biggest of which is that a podcast allowed comedians to reach their audiences in an unfiltered way. They can be themselves and speak directly to people who want to hear from them.

Of course, it helps if you are funny. And can offer different opinions or ideas from what others provide.

Today’s Stand-Up Spotlight then takes an international turn. For fans of British comedy, there’s a list of the Top 50 (mostly British) comedians of all time. There’s also a Top 15 list of current Indian comedians.

Maybe you’ll find a new favorite. There’s funny everywhere.

Comedy is subjective. Stand-up is a broad church, taking in character comedy (the Pub Landlord) and musical parody (Bill Bailey). But we had to set limits somewhere, so ruled out troupes and groups (sorry, Pappy’s; farewell, Flight of the Conchords).
