DELRAY BEACH – Welcome to Joe Bartnick Week in South Florida.
Bartnick, who frequently tours with Bill Burr, will make the most of his time in the Sunshine State, performing four times in the span of five days.
Of those four, the Applause Planner is most interested in Thursday’s show at Tim Finnegan’s in Delray Beach. The Irish bar has a permanent stage and plenty of seating. It’s a good venue for comedy, and a big crowd is expected to enjoy the show. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $20.
Local favorites Nadeem Awad, Mark Christopher and David Sadman are also scheduled to perform.
Bartnick’s South Florida tour actually begins on Tuesday with a sold-out show at Delray’s Turtle Tavern. Bartnick performed there last year to rave reviews. On Friday Bartnick travels south to headline a show at the Creole Garden in Tamarac – a Fasil Malik produced show. Come Saturday Bartnick will be spilling the beans as part of Malik’s Saturday show at Undergrounds Coffeehaus.
This is a great time of year to catch a Bartnick show. He’s is an avid hockey enthusiast – Applause Break profiled his Puck Off podcast last year – and the NHL is in the midst of the first round of its playoffs. Bartnick knows his hockey. It will be interesting to hear his thoughts on the suddenly good the Florida Panthers.
But Bartnick’s first love is comedy. And if Bill Burr thinks the guy is funny, that’s good enough for the Applause Planner. Be sure to catch one of his shows this week.

Tater Salad hits South Florida for two shows in one night. Ron White is a classic storyteller, relaying tales from his real life ranging from growing up in a small town in Texas, to sharing stories of his daily life, to becoming one of the most successful comedians in America. White rose to fame as the cigar-smoking, scotch-drinking jokester from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, but since 2004 has established himself as a star in his own right. White’s last four comedy albums charted at No. 1 on the Billboard Comedy Charts. He is a three-time Grammy-nominated comedian and has sold over 10 million albums.
