BOCA RATON – What had been a slow start to the comedic year picks up in earnest this week with a slew of quality South Florida comedy shows.

Of all the shows, Mike Vecchione’s appearance at the Farmer’s Table in Boca Raton on Thursday looks to be the highlight.

One of the nation’s top-rated comedians, the night serves as a homecoming for Vecchione, who attended Boca Raton High School but now lives in New York.

Vecchione’s return to Boca is part of Jennifer Hellman’s Lettuce Laugh series, which raises money for her Comics Crushing Cancer charity. Dan Long is the night’s feature comic, with Lalo Rodriguez announced as the host.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $30. Doors open at 7 p.m. to allow fans to order a sit-down dinner before the show. Dinner and drinks are not included in the ticket price.

This should be a funny night benefiting a good cause. What’s not to like?
