DELRAY BEACH – Ready or not South Florida, the Diceman cometh again.

Controversial comic Andrew “Dice” Clay is set to play four area shows this week – the first two on Friday at the Boca Black Box, with the final two coming the following evening at the Lake Park Black Box.

Clay’s comedy elicits a reaction. In the late 1980s and early 1990s no comic was bigger. He became the first comic ever to sell out consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden.

At the same time his ultra-macho character The Diceman – and the humorously vulgar nursery rhymes – also spawned protests from some groups.

Love him or hate him, there’s no denying Clay was a star. Off stage he starred in movies and television shows. His performances were must-see.

Some 30 years after he first hit the big time, Clay is still plying his craft. His shows mix observations from current life with some of those nursery rhymes that made him famous.

Friday’s shows at the Boca Black Box begin at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday’s shows at the Lake Park Black Box have the same start times. Tickets for each show are $65 for general admission and $85 for VIP.

Eleanor Kerrigan opens for all four shows.

Does Diceman still have the magic? Give it a roll and find out.

Applause Planner – Plan On It

Jamie Blanchard – Biergarten (Boca Raton), Thursday, Feb. 11
A Minnesota native, Blanchard impressed at the Delray Hideaway last month during his first South Florida headlining appearance. He gets another chance to impress on Thursday at Biergarten. Nadeem Awad, Staphanie Wood and host David Sadman are also scheduled to perform. It wouldn’t be surprising if a special guest took the stage, too.

Craig Robinson – Palm Beach Improv, Friday Feb. 12-Sunday Feb. 14
Best known for his role as Darryl Philbin on the NBC show The Office, Robinson first became a hit on the stand-up comedy scene in the late 1990s. Spots on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and Real Time with Bill Maher helped Robinson land movie roles. Look for him to showcase his keyboard playing ability while entertaining fans.

RC Smith – The Box 2.0, Saturday, Feb. 13
Smith makes the short drive from Florida’s west coast to Boca Raton for this show @ The Box 2.0, which is located next to the Boca Black Box. Stephanie Wood and Lennie Cox are also performing, with Lalo Rodriguez hosting. Tickets are $10.
