Awad At The Improv

The Applause Planner says comedy fans can't miss local favorite Nadeem Awad's debut as a Palm Beach Improv headliner.

WEST PALM BEACH – It’s a show that’s five years in the making.

Local South Florida favorite Nadeem Awad is ready to headline South Florida’s biggest stage, taking the mic at the Palm Beach Improv on Wednesday for the first time as the main attraction.

“To be on that stage, it’s hard to take it all in – to realize that I’m in the biggest club in Florida,” Awad said. “I’m excited about it, and nervous about it.”

Wednesday may be his first time headlining at the Improv, but he’s certainly familiar with the stage. Awad’s featured at the Improv for numerous comics over the past couple years, including five shows last month for Bret Ernst.

In recent months Awad’s been headlining shows more frequently, incorporating more relaxed storytelling into his act while pushing himself to develop deeper sets.

“I have to start forcing myself to do things I’m uncomfortable with and this is one of the steps,” Awad said. “I have to get used to being the guy going last.”

Awad’s spent the past few weeks canvasing South Florida promoting the show. He estimates 200 tickets have already been distributed and is expecting a fairly large walk-up crowd. Advance tickets are $10 via Eventbrite, $15 at the door.

In keeping with the show’s local theme, Dan Long and David Sadman will be the feature comics, with Anthony Terzo handling hosting duties.

“I’m really excited,” Awad said. “I have a lot of friends coming out – a lot of them have never seen me perform.”
