WEST PALM BEACH – South Florida comedy fans will get their chance this week to see why Mark Normand is one of the hottest comics in the nation.

Normand will perform five shows this week, beginning with one show on Thursday at 8 p.m.

Dubbed by Jerry Seinfeld as the “best young up-and-coming comic,” Normand’s self-released one-hour special “Out To Lunch” on YouTube has already been viewed by more than 7 million people.

Prior to the release of “Out To Lunch,” Normand had two Comedy Central specials, and has been a coveted guest on the late night talk shows.

Normand also hosts his own podcast, “Tuesdays with Stories.”

Tickets to see Normand perform in person are $22. While it really doesn’t matter which show of his South Florida fans decide to catch, Applause Break is recommending seeing him on Friday or Saturday.

Why? Because, as highlighted below, there are several good local shows on Thursday night, and fans have two chances to see Normand on Friday and Saturday.

Applause Planner – Plan On It

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16
Comedy On Tap – Mathews Brewing Company, Lake Worth
Flip Schultz recently debuted a bit where plays the bassline of “Come Together” while telling a hodgepodge of jokes. He’s preparing to leave town for shows with Steve Trevino, so there won’t be many chances to catch Schultz locally in the near future. Phil Isme will feature, with Matt Ross, Stephanie Wood and Lalo Rodriguez all scheduled to perform. The free show begins at 8 p.m. and, according to the flyer, “All dogs and humans welcome.”

Comedy Night – Blue Jean Blues, Fort Lauderdale.
Already a good show, this lineup got even stronger with the late addition of Matt Durndak. Carlos Hernandez, Rosco Nash, Judd Jones, Chris Renois, Jillie Reil, Josh Rosen and Tarek Turjuman are also scheduled to perform. The free show begins at 8 p.m. Don’t forget to tip Durndak with chicken wings.

Dope City Comedy Tour – Dania Improv, Dania
Tim Hanlon and Matt Bellak made their debut at the newest of the Improv franchises a few weeks ago, and apparently it went really well. They’ve already been invited back. The duo are South Florida favorites and puts on a good show. Tickets are only $20.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 17 – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 18

Chris Distefano – Dania Improv, Dania
Distefano is both prolific and funny. He’s been a regular on Comedy Central ever since his half-hour comedy special debuted on Comedy Central in 2014. His hour-long special, “Chris Distefano: Size 38 Waist” was lauded by millions. Distefano also has shows on MTV and Tru TV. And if the opinion of PopSugar has any sway with South Florida comedy fans, the website called Distefano the “funniest guy on MTV.” Distefano performs twice on Friday and two more times on Saturday. Ticket prices begin at $30.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

Skippy Greene – Monroe’s Red Light, West Palm Beach
South Florida fans who have yet to experience a Skippy Greene show should consider concluding their comedy week by taking in this show. Greene (the alter ego of Flip Schultz) is a former Catskills comic who hobnobbed with all the great Hollywood legends and loves to work blue. Amber Joy Layne is Greene’s feature comic, with Alex Novello also performing and Bobby Mac hosting. The free show begins at 8:30 p.m.
