BOCA RATON – Don Gavin delivered one of the most memorable lines during the Sadman Comedy Lounge’s February grand opening.
That’s saying something, considering the legendary lineup on that show.
Gavin co-headlined that first show with Jimmy Shubert, Bruce Smirnoff and Richie Minervini. The video clip above proved to be memorable. Many of those who attended the show repeated it constantly in the days that followed that show. (Warning: The clip contains foul language.)
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Gavin enjoyed a successful night. He is, after all, known as The Godfather of Boston Comedy.
Gavin started performing stand-up in the 1970s, leading the way for a group of notable comics that included Steven Wright and Dennis Leary.
He recently retired to South Florida, emerging from that retirement in February for the Sadman Speakeasy grand opening.
Gavin didn’t perform in the two Sadman Speakeasy shows that followed, but he returns to co-headline Wednesday’s Sadman Speakeasy IV show, which earned the Applause Planner Pick of the Week.
Flip Schultz and Dan Wilson co-headline this show, with Nadeem Awad and David Sadman featuring. Smirnoff will handle hosting duties. And there’s even talk that Shubert and Minervini will drop in for a quick set.
