BOCA RATON – Days after opening night at the Sadman Comedy Speakeasy Lounge, the South Florida comedy community is still buzzing about the show.
That’s not surprising.
A fearsome foursome of headliners – Jimmy Shubert, Don Gavin, Richie Minervini and Bruce Smirnoff – all brought their A-list material, slaying a sold-out crowd.
Afterward audience members described the show as being “fantastic,” “amazing” and “the funniest show of the year.”
While much of the nation – including hot spots Los Angeles and New York – are shut down because of COVID-19 restrictions, the South Florida comedy scene continues to expand and thrive.
Many comics, including some on this show, have relocated to South Florida in search of work.
The Sadman Comedy Speakeasy Lounge may quickly become a desired destination for South Florida comedy. Sadman is already making plans for a follow-up show to be held in March.
In all seven comics performed, with Nadeem Awad and Chad Ridgely featuring and David Sadman hosting.

The show took place on Feb. 24 at the Sadman Comedy Speakeasy Lounge, which is located above Arturo’s Ristorante in Boca Raton, Florida.
Smirnoff came out of retirement to perform.
Shubert, the last to perform on the night, begins the video by helping the audience with math. Gavin then explains why he loves PBS telethons. Minervini discusses a topic every parent can relate to – children needing money. Smirnoff details a life-changing cruise.
Awad has a little fun with sobriety – and the lack there of. Ridgely explains why tinted windows should be a must. Sadman, the host and show promoter, compares Italian and Mexican food.
