DELRAY BEACH – For everyone who’s ever tried to humanize their car, today is your special day.

Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 is National Name Your Car Day. Naming a car is much different than naming a baby or a pet. Car names tend to vary greatly, ranging from normal human names to names that can’t properly be shouted in public.

In the above video South Florida comics Flip Schultz, Lalo Rodriguez, Matt Ross, Tim Hanlon, Jay Guy and Josh Rosen did their best to celebration National Name Your Car Day by sharing their thoughts on the Day – with some even divulging their car names to Applause Break.

While all the answers are great, Rosen channeling Bernie Sanders take is probably the most memorable. Overall, however, Ross probably puts the day in its proper perspecitve.

According to CheckiDay.com, approximately one quarter of all people name their cars. The accuracy of that statistic is unclear, but a surprising number of comics admitted to Applause Break that they had at some point in their lives named a car.

How should people celebrate National Name Your Car Day? Simple. Do what the name suggests. If you are stumped, maybe it will help to incorporate the car’s color into its new name (The Blue Bomber, The Green Machine). Or think about some famous cars like The General Lee from Dukes of Hazzard fame, or KITT from Knight Rider, or Herbie The Love Bug.

To really ensure the name sticks, mount the new moniker on the front bumper. Be sure to announce the name on social media. And don’t forget to take your newly named car out for a little weekend drive.
