BOCA RATON – Finally, a day pretty much every American can agree on.
Whether it’s New York, Chicago or Detroit style – slices or whole pies – this is the day for lovers of all things pizza.
Wednesday, February 9, 2022 is National Pizza Day.
It’s no surprise that South Florida comics – not especially known for their healthy eating habits – are huge fans of pizza. And we also learn that professional wrestlers enjoy their pizza, too.
South Florida Comedians Perry Sak, Brett Morris, John Loveless, Nico Bolling and Mark Christopher have some unique opinions as to what makes for a good pizza, and they shared those thoughts with Applause Break. Sak even offers his opinion on the South Florida’s best pizza spot. Hint: it’s in Delray Beach.
And CCW wrestlers Cha Cha Charlie and Ariel Levy bring a worldly point of view to National Pizza Day. Both currently hold Coastal Championship Wrestling title belts.
According to NationalDayCalendar.com pepperoni is the most liked topping on a pizza, comprising more than one-third of all pizza orders.
Each year more than 3 billion pizzas are sold in the United States alone – and that doesn’t include frozen pizzas.
The first known pizzeria opened in Naples, Italy in 1738. An Italian immigrant, Gennaro Lombardi, opened America’s first pizzeria in 1895.
Celebrate National Pizza Day by ordering a pizza from a local pizzeria. Why not get adventurous? Try some toppings that normally wouldn’t be ordered. Or, make your own pizza at home.
